Allergens oh My! Itchy Skin, pets galore!

It's that time of year again, and I don't know about you but the site of green dust and yellow particles floating in the air speak to authentic changes in seasons and weather that speaks to digging, planting, grass cutting and seeding all around you. A few tips for antihistamines and benadryl. Antihistamines are generally longer acting than benadryl; hence, best for seasonal allergies. Benadryl although a form of antihistamine is best for acute reaction to bug bites, food allergies, contact allergies while needing to seek medical attention unless the allergy reaction has a known causative agent. Even in that be careful, if your airway or breathing is affected it's best to seek medical attention expediently.

Please carry your inhalers with you, triggers for allergy response can vary from day to day. See your doctor for updated prescriptions and recommendations along with asthma screening annually for spirometry readings. Don't take for granted that the store over the counter medications are enough, especially for shortness of breath. Make your appointments with your PCP's, stay up to date with empty cannisters and expired pills.

Remember acute = benadryl chronic = other antihistamines like loratadine, ceterizine or others as indicated by your physicians office. This message is for informative purposes only. Contact your medical profession for more information.
