October Breast Cancer Awareness

This month is often when most women will get their annual screenings for Breast Cancer, we do encourage self-breast exams monthly, however, the mammogram screening uses radiographic imaging to detect abnormal patterns or lumps in the breast tissue. There are a few things that are often overlooked without proper education. One of these things is that MEN can also acquire breast cancer. If you know of a man with dense breast tissue, I encourage you to help them understand self-breast exams (SBE), this can at the least be an early detection of something abnormal. Breast Cancer may or may not have symptoms of pain or obvious discomfort. There are outward appearances of peeling or abnormal shapes, tugging and pulling to one side, or one breast grossly larger than the other with a physical exam.
