We are approaching the summer months! Texas is always a heat wave unless we have extreme temps in the 40s most of our winter months. What winter months you say? I completely agree! So let's get ready for the water!
1. Sunscreen, 50+spf for those that burn easily, and nothing less than 35spf for everyone else. Remember to reapply, every 30 minutes to 2 hours remember overcast days are the worst for painful sunburns.
2. Protect your feet from injury on sands, seashells, and other foreign objects when walking on beaches that may not be so clean; in parking lots or riding on the pedal carts; carry id with you in some way or another just in case; if you are diabetic or have life-threatening allergies make sure to have some type of identifier on your person.
3. HYDRATE! Drink water and replace electrolytes; a combination of fluids is best; limit soft drinks and make sure to carry snacks! Physical activity is great, hydration is a necessity because of the risk of heat exhaustion.
4. Travel in pairs! Everyone needs a buddy! Release some fun energy by dancing or singing songs, and visit the art cars or museums! The museums are great because most are air-conditioned.
5. Wealth requires enriching the mind, not just monetary resources. So go to grow! Experience other cultures, observe different activities, and don't be afraid to grab a book and enjoy a good day in a hammock!
6. Water warnings for our kiddos who are not great swimmers! Use water safety devices, like floaties or vested swimwear! Earplugs are great for chlorine environments, change them monthly or use the disposable wax ones. Make sure your private pools are gated and secured to avoid drownings from the local kids.
7. Spend some time making memories! Our days grow shorter as the years go by, we get busy and we don't always have time to enjoy the beautification of the world that we live in. Just breathe...
